Plant Magazine: Büyükçekmece & Beylikdüzü Kordonboyu Coastline

An article in Plant Magazine titled “Aesthetic, High-Quality Living Spaces” presented the first phase of the Büyükçekmece & Beylikdüzü Kordonboyu Coastline Project, whose landscape design was prepared by VAR Design Studio. Planned in three sections over 258,000 m², the project offers 6.5 km of uninterrupted walking, running and cycling routes along the coast.

All 2,223 existing trees were assessed individually by species, form and aesthetic value, and the existing vegetation was preserved as far as possible. The beaches were protected, and food and beverage structures on the sea side of the promenade were removed to keep the shoreline open to everyone. Accessible ramps at 10 locations, a 50-metre beach platform and charging stations for mobility vehicles were designed, while solar benches, bike rental points and an electric tourist train aim to reduce the project’s carbon footprint.
